Discover San Diego: The San Diego Zoo
61San Diego, California's second largest city, and America's eighth, is a city ideal for people who wish to experience a life of warm, sunny skies and perfect weather. It is also ideal for people who have pets, and love animals, because the warm weather makes most pets thrive and live their lives to the fullest.
It is no surprise then that San Diego is well known for its various animal attractions, which include SeaWorld, the Wild Animal Park, and the world famous San Diego Zoo.
The San Diego Zoo is one of the most extensive and most modern zoos in the world. It features more than 4,000 animals from more than 800 species, all living and thriving in an area of 107 acres. This is truly an ideal place for any visitor to San Diego who loves our furry, scaly, and adorable animal friends.
The zoo may be big, but it is not hard to get around, especially with the numerous buses that tour people around 75% of the park. There is also an overhead lift called the Skyfari, which gives people a bird's-eye view of the numerous sections of the zoo. And then there are both indoor and outdoor animal exhibits all over the zoo, ranging in themes from the African rain forests, to the Arctic regions. These areas feature specific animals from the regions, such as gorillas, polar bears, and many others.
Another amazing thing about the zoo is the fact that almost all of its major exhibits are open-air, even the aviaries! The zoo features some of the largest free-flight aviaries in the world, enclosed only by invisible wires and darkened blinds. These allow visitors to view the birds in flight, and not just perched on branches. And all of the animals thrive, including the reptiles in the only building exhibit in the zoo, the Reptile House. This is all thanks to the cool, sunny climate of San Diego.
In fact, the animals in the zoo enjoy themselves so much, that many of them have even gone into showbiz over the years! Many of the animals in the zoo have been regulars on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson , and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, appearing to raise awareness for, not just the zoo, but for animal conservation in general. This, along with various references to the San Diego Zoo by pop culture over the years, has made the zoo a world famous icon that all visitors to San Diego should experience.
Some people who visit San Diego decide not to leave! For them, there is a great resource for San Diego mortgage and second mortgages.
